According to its age, wines may show signs of time, such as dust on the bottles or some label damage—common in wines that have been stored for decades. The National Wine Cellar keeps all bottles at the correct temperature and humidity, but always preserves the visual character inherent to their age. We usually select brands/regions that perform well in old‑wine tastings. Yet, wine is a living organism exposed to time, and even inside a bottle its aromas evolve. Thus the National Wine Cellar cannot be held responsible for the wine’s quality, as it is an aged wine. Our advice is to open and let the bottle breathe first, which will help release its natural aromas after so many years closed. Avoid decanting—the process can be too aggressive for old wines.
