This “Conceito” from the granite slopes of Freixo de Numão is a wine that’s clearly taken itself rather seriously – and for good reason. Predominantly crafted from Encruzado, Viosinho and Gouveio with a sneaky addition of Alvarinho, it’s a delightfully complex blend. The careful, extended *bâtonnage* (over a year, no less!) has resulted in a remarkably persistent allure. Having scooped a respectable 93 points from Robert Parker, expect a burst of citrus and herbaceous aromas, alongside vibrant freshness and a finish that’s determined to linger. Quite simply, a gem from the Douro – perfect with seafood.
