Description

Since 1895, Carvalho, Ribeiro & Ferreira, LDA. has been producing wines and brandy. In the early 1980s, it launched its vineyard development plan, acquiring plots in the Dão – Quinta do Serrado, Torres Vedras – Quinta da Folgorosa, and Colares – Tavares & Rodrigues. At Quinta do Serrado the company vinifies its own roughly 10 hectares of vines; Quinta da Folgorosa covers about 45 hectares, with part bottled as estate wine and the surplus used in other table wines. In Colares, the famous wines are experiencing a renaissance, with around 10 hectares currently in production. Since 1992, the estate has pursued microvinification experiments to evaluate how these wines evolve under various vinification conditions. From 1991 onwards, it has been restructuring internally to achieve tighter operational control, aiming to deliver quality products at competitive prices. (illustrative image)
