Description

In 1988, a Danish man and an American woman set sail in search of a place to raise a family, plant a vineyard and produce wine. A fairy‑tale dream that birthed Cortes de Cima, now one of Portugal’s leading wineries. Located in Vidigueira, the estate is run day‑to‑day by Hans and Carrie Jorgensen over 140 ha of vines planted with Aragonês, Syrah, Touriga Nacional, Trincadeira, Petit Verdot, Antão Vaz and Verdelho. The oldest vines were planted in 1991, a time when Syrah was not yet permitted by regional regulations. Still, Hans, convinced the climate and soil were ideal for this Rhône variety, produced the first non‑legalised Syrah in 1998 under the name Incógnito, which quickly gained fame in Portugal and earned medals in London, Brussels and Bordeaux.
