The classic Incógnito unfolds aromas of black plum fruit, plums and delicate toasted and spice notes, joined by a complex earthy profile. It is elegant on the palate, with velvety fruit supported by a firm tannic structure, giving it strong aging potential. In 1988 a Danish–American couple set sail in a yacht searching for a place to start a family, plant a vineyard and produce wine. A fair‑tale dream that sparked the story of Cortes de Cima, now one of Portugal’s leading wineries. Located in Vidigueira, the estate is run daily by Hans and Carrie Jorgensen, covering 140 hectares planted with Aragonês, Syrah, Touriga Nacional, Trincadeira, Petit Verdot, Antão Vaz and Verdelho. The oldest vines were planted in 1991, before Syrah was permitted in the region. Still, Hans, convinced the climate and soil were ideal for this Rhône variety, produced the first unofficial Syrah in 1998, marketed as Incógnito, which quickly gained fame in Portugal and earned medals in London, Brussels and Bordeaux.
