According to its age, wines may show marks left by time, such as dust on the bottles and/or some damage to the labels, which is common in wines that have been stored for decades. The National Cellar is obliged to keep all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, but it always opts to preserve the visual character that comes with their age. We usually select brands/regions that normally look good in old‑wine tastings. However, wine is a living organism that, like everything else, is exposed to time, and even inside a bottle its aromas evolve in different ways. Therefore, the National Cellar cannot be held responsible for the wine’s quality, as it is an aged wine. Our recommendation is to open the bottle and let it breathe first, which will help release the natural aromas after so many years sealed. Avoid decanting, as it can be too aggressive for old wines.
