Depending on its age, wines may show marks left by time, such as dust on the bottles and/or some label damage—common in vintages that have been stored for decades. Garrafeira Nacional stores all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, but it deliberately preserves the visual appearance associated with their age. We usually choose brands/regions that perform well in old‑wine competitions. However, wine is a living organism exposed to time, and even inside a bottle its aromas evolve. Thus Garrafeira Nacional cannot be held responsible for the wine’s quality, given its aged nature. We recommend opening the bottle and letting it aerate first, to release the natural aromas after so many years closed. Avoid decanting, as it can be too aggressive for old wines.
