COVELA Avesso Natur is our first Avesso that is not only certified organic, but also bottled without added sulfites. This wine showcases Covela’s ongoing commitment to innovation and to extracting the full potential of the Avesso grape, native to the granitic soils along the Douro River where Covela is located. It is the estate’s second certified organic wine, following the release of the Covela Avesso Reserva Biológico in 2019. In COVELA Avesso Natur, the sulfites normally used to stabilize wines were replaced by dried chestnut flowers (Castanea sativa Mill.) harvested from Covela’s chestnut trees and prepared by hand by our viticulture and enology teams.
