Depending on its age, the wines may show signs of time, such as dust residues on the bottles and/or some damage to the labels—common in wines that have been stored for decades. Garrafeira Nacional is committed to storing all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, but it always chooses to preserve the visual appearance inherent to their age. We generally select brands and regions that typically perform well in vintage‑wine competitions. However, wine is a living organism that, like everything else, is exposed to time, and even inside a bottle its aromas evolve in different ways. Therefore, Garrafeira Nacional cannot be held responsible for the wine’s quality, given that it is an old wine. Our recommendation is to open the bottle and let it breathe beforehand, as this will help release the wine’s natural aromas after so many years closed.
