Since 1895, Carvalho, Ribeiro & Ferreira, LDA has been producing wines and spirits. In the early 1980s it launched its vineyard development plan, establishing vines in the Dão – Quinta do Serrado, Torres Vedras – Quinta da Folgorosa, and Colares – Tavares & Rodrigues. At Quinta do Serrado the company vinifies its own roughly 10‑hectare crop. Quinta da Folgorosa covers about 45 hectares, part of which is bottled as estate wine while the surplus goes into other table wines. In Colares we are witnessing a revival of the famous Colares wines, which currently grow around 10 hectares. Since 1992 it has run its own production and has experimented with micro‑vinification to study how these wines evolve under different vinification conditions. Since 1991 it has been restructuring internally to achieve more effective operational control, aiming to produce quality products at competitive prices. (illustrative image only)
