According to its age, wines may show signs left by time, such as dust residues on the bottles and/or damage to the labels, which is common in wines that have been stored for decades. Garrafeira Nacional commits to store all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, but always opts to preserve the visual appearance inherent to their age. We generally select brands/regions that usually perform well in old‑wine tastings. However, wine is a living organism that, like others, is exposed to time, and even within a bottle, aromas evolve differently. Thus, Garrafeira Nacional cannot be held responsible for the wine’s quality, as it is an aged wine. Our recommendation is to open and let the bottle breathe first, which will help release its natural aromas after so many years closed. Avoid decanting; it may be too aggressive for old wines.
