This Alvarinho, hailing from the ancient vineyards of Monção and Melgaço, certainly hasn’t been shy – a little *too* intense, perhaps. Having spent over a decade ageing, the grapes delivered a frankly alarming level of acidity and tannins locked in a rather spirited debate within the bottle. The producer, sticking steadfastly to traditional methods, clearly wasn’t holding back, resulting in a wine with a gloriously vibrant colour and a stubbornly strong character. Wonderful with grilled white fish or seafood, to tame that initial burst of energy.
