Bottles of aged wines may show traces of dust and damaged labels, which is normal for their age. The National Wine Repository stores all wines at the proper temperature and humidity, yet it deliberately preserves the visual character inherent to their age. We select brands/regions that, by rule, reveal distinct traits in tastings of old wines. However, we remind that wine is a living organism exposed to time, and even within a bottle, aromas evolve in different ways. Thus, the Repository cannot be held responsible for the product’s quality, as it is an aged wine. Our recommendation is to open the bottle and let the wine aerate first, which will help release its natural aromas after so many years closed. If you choose to decant before serving, do so patiently to detect any sediment that an old wine tends to develop. (illustrative image)
