Depending on its age, the wines may show signs left by time, such as dust residues on the bottles or damage to the labels—common in vintages that have been stored for decades. The National Cellar is required to keep all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, yet it always preserves the visual appearance that comes with age. We usually choose brands/regions that perform well in vintage wine competitions. However, wine is a living organism that, like all, is exposed to time, and even inside a bottle its aromas can evolve in different ways. Therefore, the National Cellar cannot be held responsible for the wine’s quality, as it is an aged wine. Our advice is to open and let the bottle breathe first, which will help release the wine’s natural aromas after so many years sealed. Avoid decanting—this can be too aggressive for old wines.
