Founded in 1825 by Pierre Faiveley, this is an old Burgundian négociant and wine producer. At the time, Burgundy wines were sold in barrels and shipped by sea and canals to other countries. That was the house’s business, which earned it a great name and reputation. After the devastation of phylloxera, the house went through hard times and later faced the height of the Great Depression, but it was the strong individual character of the family that managed to overcome these crises and keep the house’s name and reputation alive. In the meantime, they acquired Premier and Grand Cru vineyards to gain greater control over production and sales. Today the seventh generation runs this historic domaine under Erwan Faiveley, who, while preserving the values of his predecessors, has been able to overcome obstacles and surpass the already excellent quality of the wines.
