Domaine Jean Fournier is regarded as one of the oldest producers in Marsannay‑la‑Côte. There are even book references to a vintner named Fournier dating back to the reign of King Louis XIII. Today, Jean Fournier and his family manage about 16 hectares of vineyards in some of the finest terroirs of Marsannay (mainly red, but also white and rosé) and Gevrey‑Chambertin. All of this producer’s wines are full of personality—an effect primarily due to the old vines that give them their character, as well as the ageing process, which can exceed three years. His winemaking techniques produce structured, concentrated wines of great strength and character—“Borgonhas” that can be aged in his cellar for many years. (Illustrative image only)
