Description

The Domaine Mugneret‑Gibourg is, for many, the pinnacle that Pinot Noir can reach. Dr. Georges Mugneret took the reins of this estate at the end of the 1950s, shortly after beginning his career as an ophthalmologist. Over the following thirty years, between eye treatments and vines, he added remarkable parcels of 1er and Grand Cru wines before his sudden and tragic death in 1988. His wife Jacqueline and daughters Marie‑Christine and Marie‑Andrée decided to carry on the legacy started by Dr. Mugneret. The transparency of the wines from this domain reveals the nuances and idiosyncrasies of its individual terroirs more than perhaps any other in Burgundy, and although this was not the goal, it has been one of the main reasons why Mugneret‑Gibourg has become a benchmark wine of Burgundy.
