Guy Roulot, a legendary producer of some of the finest Meursaults – and arguably some of the world’s best white wines – catapulted the modest family estate into the spotlight. Consequently, Domaine Roulot became the master of the “lieu‑dit,” boasting five premier plots classified as “Cru” in Meursault and Monthelie. Guy’s sudden death in 1982 left the family in flux, as his son Jean‑Marc had chosen an acting career. With the support and guidance of three of his fellow growers, he was prepared for the transition that would occur in 1989, taking over the estate’s management. Since then, Jean‑Marc’s progress has drawn even greater attention to Domaine Roulot, whose wines are now among the most sought‑after in all of Burgundy and highly recognised internationally.
