Guy Roulot, a legendary producer of some of the finest Meursaults—and arguably some of the world’s best white wines—brought the small family estate into the spotlight. As a result, Domaine Roulot became the master of its “lieu‑dit,” boasting five prime plots classified as Cru in Meursault and Monthelie. Guy’s sudden death in 1982 left the family in transition, as his son Jean‑Marc had decided to pursue an acting career. With the support and guidance of three of his fellow winemakers, he was prepared for the transition that would occur in 1989, taking over the estate’s management. Since then, Jean‑Marc’s stewardship has drawn even more attention to Domaine Roulot, as its wines are now among the most sought‑after in all of Burgundy and highly regarded internationally.
