In 1896, after a tour of wine regions in France, the young agronomist Marcel Ott arrived at the Mediterranean coast and finally found the wine area that inspired him most: Provence. In the heart of this famed wine region, one of the oldest in France, there is a long tradition of grape cultivation. But by the end of the 19th century, after a phylloxera outbreak, the vineyards were replanted very quickly, and the wines produced had little appeal. With fierce determination, Marcel Ott began replanting all the estates with quality grape varieties so that the great wines of Provence could flourish again—authentic wines worthy of a thousand years of tradition.
