This Dona Ermelinda, presented in a restrained 0.375 bottle, certainly seems to have lived a wonderfully purposeful life. The Fernão Pires provides a robust backbone – a truly dependable “guardian” of the Douro region – while the Arinto injects a vibrant acidity that keeps things interesting. Hints of Antão Vaz add a layer of complexity, reminiscent perhaps of the Serra’s granite soils. And, just a touch of Chardonnay, subtly smoothing out the experience, ideally paired with a classic Bacalhau à Brás to tame the richness.
