Founded in 1920 by Deonilde Freitas, it was later continued by Germana Freitas and then by Ermelinda Freitas, who always gave special attention to wine. From the first generation this house has focused on the quality of its vineyards and wines, which were initially produced and sold in bulk without a brand name. It was under the current management of Leonor Freitas that a major change took place, and in 1997 a new cycle began for this century‑old family business, with the first wine produced and bottled under the name Casa Ermelinda Freitas.
