Founded in 1920 by Deonilde Freitas, the house was later carried on by Germana Freitas and then by Ermelinda Freitas, always giving special attention to its wines. From the very first generation, this family has focused on the quality of its vineyards and the wines produced, which were originally made and sold in bulk without a brand. The major change came with the current management of Leonor Freitas, and in 1997 a new chapter began for this century‑old family business, with the first wine produced and bottled under the name Casa Ermelinda Freitas.
