Dona Helena Classification: Regional – Setúbal Peninsula Region: Situated between two nature reserves – the Tejo Estuary to the northwest and the Sado to the southwest, the western side by Serra da Arrábida and the eastern side by the Alentejo Marshes, the Pegões area boasts privileged edaphoclimatic conditions. With a Mediterranean-influenced climate and located on the flat soil zone called “Pliocene of Pegões”, it is characterised by a poor sandy soil formed over millions of years by sand deposits from the Tejo and Sado rivers, producing wines of unique characteristics from a terroir that exists only in Pegões. Vinification: Light pellicular maceration followed by alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperatures.
