This collaborative project from the Douro – the Douro Boys – is shaping up to be a lasting venture. Featuring the combined efforts of five producers, notably with the Vinha do Ponte bringing its century-old field blend and the Niepoort vineyards adding their distinctive touch, Olazábal describes a remarkably fresh, elegant red. It’s as if they’ve bottled the 2008 harvest, and with a good ageing potential to boot – ideal for a hearty grilled steak or slow-cooked lamb.
