Description

**Winemaking:** The best parcels of grapes are selected at our Ervamoira estate to produce Duas Quintas Reserva Branco. The grapes undergo numerous tests before determining the optimal harvest time. They are hand‑picked and transported to the cellar in small boxes, separated by parcel and variety. After 24 hours of cold maceration, the must is obtained through careful, gentle pressing. The clean must ferments in stainless‑steel tanks (75 %) and in French and Austrian oak barrels (25 %) of various capacities. The wine was bottled in May 2022. **Food pairings:** It pairs well with shellfish, octopus dishes, or other fish. It is also ideal with a semi‑aged sheep cheese. Store horizontally in a cool, dry place, away from light and temperature fluctuations. Serve at 13–15 °C. Consume in moderation. **Awards and Recommendations** - **2020 Wine Spectator (USA)** – 90/100 pts, “A hint of toast lingers through the lemon oil, peach and melon flavours of this crisp, medium‑bodied white, with notes of mineral, spice and heather emerging on the long finish.” - **Vinhos Grandes Escolhas (Portugal)** – “Prémio ‘A Escolha do Mercado’ 2019” - **Robert Parker – Wine Advocate (USA)** – 91/100 pts, “It has come together beautifully. It seems elegant and refined yet very persistent on the lovely and lingering finish. It is fresh and pure. This understated and carefully crafted white has the chance to improve even more as it ages, and it should hold for another decade or so.” - **Wine Enthusiast (USA)** – 91/100 pts, “This wine is rich, layered with wood, spice and intense white fruits. Dense and powerful, at times it overwhelms with its ripeness. However, the crisp acidity that shoots through redeems and lifts the wine. Drink from 2019.” - **Revista Adega (Brazil)** – 91/100 pts, “The fruit, delightful pear, is accompanied by grass, giving it an extra layer. A certain structure and texture make it very gastronomic.” - **Revista de Vinhos (Portugal)** – 17.5/20 pts, “Straw yellow, very polished aroma, rich, deep and sophisticated. Quality fruit, ripe at the right point, pear and tangerine, fresh herbal. Fruit‑led, more lemony than aromatic. Deep and elegant.” - **Revista de Vinhos (Portugal)** – Highly recommended, “The aroma is showing itself smooth with an evident presence of the grape variety and its dry‑leaf vegetal aromas and a slight mineral sense of ground stone. The barrel work was exemplary here because it gave body and structure to the wine, but without losing its character. Intensely gastronomic.” - **Decanter World Wine Awards (UK)** – Recommended, “Herbal nose, Braeburn apple hints. Refreshing acidity, buttery oak, ripe fruit finish.” - **2018 Revista Paixão pelo Vinho (Portugal)** – 17/20 pts, “Yellow‑gold wine with golden reflections, clean. Distinct, harmonious aroma, with evident orchard‑fruit and dried‑fruit notes. The wood ageing notes are very well integrated with the fruit, fresh, ending persistently.” - **Festival do Vinho do Douro Superior (Portugal)** – Best White Wine 2017. - **International Wine Challenge (UK)** – Silver, “Beautifully balanced wine; rich yet fresh with red apple, peach and a creamy, nutty note from oak use.” - **Jancis Robinson – Richard Hemming MW (UK)** – 17/20 pts, “Overt oak spice on the palate – not dominant, but certainly obvious when compared with their non‑reserve. Lovely flavour intensity on the finish that gives perhaps more fruit than you might have expected at first. There’s a sort of grape‑juice character as well as sweet spice.”
