According to its age, the wines may show signs left by time, such as dust on the bottles and/or damage to the labels—common in wines that have spent decades stored. The National Cellar commits to keeping all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, but it always maintains the visual appearance associated with their age. We typically select brands/regions that usually perform well in vintage wine competitions. However, wine is a living organism that, like all others, is exposed to time, and even within a bottle its aromas evolve in different ways. Therefore, the National Cellar cannot be held responsible for the quality of a vintage wine. Our recommendation is to open and let the bottle breathe beforehand, as this will help release the wine’s natural aromas after so many years closed. Avoid decanting, as it may be too aggressive for old wines.
