Quinta do Ortigão is located in the centre of Anadia, the heart of Bairrada. The estate blends tradition, contemporary sensibilities, and the vision of Augusto Brandão Alegre. From the outset, the owners focused on the careful selection and planting of varieties that would allow the production of wines of great complexity. Among the white grapes, the highlights are Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Arinto, Bical and Maria Gomes. In the reds, most Bairrada wines are made from Baga, complemented by three other high‑quality enological varieties: Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Cabernet Sauvignon. In early 2001, the family decided to create their own estate wine, equipping a modern, well‑sized cellar.
