Since 1937, Caves do Solar de São Domingos has been producing sparkling wines, aged aguardentes, bagasse aguardente, and Bairrada and Dão wines. Their galleries hold more than two million bottles of sparkling wine, thousands of bottled wines, and hundreds of French oak barrels for their famed wine brandies. The “São Domingos” bagasse aguardente, produced in its own stills, continues to lead the market with its enduring quality. In 2006 a modern vinification centre was opened, allowing the reception of a thousand tonnes of grapes from the company’s own vineyards and from viticulturists working in partnership. Continuous innovation in production and vinification processes has raised the quality and prestige of the house wines, reinforcing São Domingos’ corporate competitiveness. Wine tourism is also a winning bet, dazzling thousands of visitors each year with the beauty of rock‑carved galleries, millions of bottles, as well as the showroom, hall and museum with a tasting room, all part of the Bairrada Route.
