The Jorge Rosa Santos e Filhos Agricultural Society Ltda is the family company that manages the agricultural operations on Monte do Mata Mouros, in the parish of Glória, Estremoz. With deep roots in farming that trace back to the era of the Marquis of Pombal, the current generation found the inspiration to launch this “small project.” Monte do Mata Mouros is a modest plot of land situated on a spur of the Serra d’Ossa, overlooking the Ribeira de Tera valley. Here, high‑quality grape varieties have been planted under conditions of extreme austerity, created by exceptional microclimates and the area’s skeletal loamy soils. The philosophy that underpins the vineyard’s and winery’s practices is based on the freedom of expression of the vine, which is considered unique. Accordingly, each harvest deliberately displays distinctive characteristics, reflecting the plants’ response to the environmental variations of each year. Every harvest is irreplicable and unmatched.
