Sociedade Agrícola Jorge Rosa Santos e Filhos Lda is a family company that manages the agricultural estate at Monte do Mata Mouros, in the parish of Glória, Estremoz. With a farming heritage that stretches back to the era of the Marquês de Pombal, the current generation drew inspiration to launch this “small project”. Monte do Mata Mouros is a modest plot tucked into a foothill of the Serra d’Ossa, overlooking the Ribeira de Tera valley. Here, premium grape varieties were planted under austere conditions, thanks to an exceptional microclimate and skeletal xistose soils. The company’s viticultural and oenological philosophy centers on giving the vine full freedom of expression—treating each vine as unique. Consequently, each harvest deliberately displays distinct traits, reflecting the vines’ response to that year’s environmental variations. Each vintage is irreproducible and incomparable.
