More than 1,100 hectares of land and a winemaking tradition dating back 200 years define this estate, which has remained in the Cruz Sobral family since 1775. A pioneer in technological innovation in the Ribatejo, the farm—just a few kilometres from Almeirim—has just undergone a new remodel of its 1817 cellar (the region’s first steam‑powered one), a commitment to quality that has always marked its production. On the left bank of the Tagus, the vineyards that now cover 140 hectares and have an average age of 30 years benefit from a sandy, loamy terroir, consisting mainly of typical Portuguese varieties: Fernão Pires, Castelão, Trincadeira, and Touriga Nacional. Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and Alicante Bouchet are the foreign grapes recently introduced, completing the vineyard area. (Illustrative image only)
