This Favaios Moscatel, already boasting impressive 18 points from the Grandes Escolhas, seems to have been a tad shy in its aging – it still holds a bright citrus, orange blossom and mandarin fragrance, almost as if it's trying a little too hard to be exuberant. The honey, dried grapes and figs characteristic of this grape variety lend a welcome complexity, admittedly quite sweet on the palate. However, the acidity, coupled with the plateau terroir, delivers a lovely balance, making it a perfect partner for aged cheeses and foie gras.
