Description

Kosher wine is produced in accordance with Jewish dietary laws (kashrut). For it to be considered kosher, it must be made by observant Jews and use kosher equipment and ingredients. This production covers a range of styles, from reds and whites to sparkling wines, with many winemakers focusing on quality. Kosher wines are appreciated not only by the Jewish community but also by wine lovers in general, offering a rich experience while respecting tradition. Quinta da Ribeira is located in Meca, in the old medieval municipality of Montes de Alenquer, and is currently the headquarters of the Sociedade Agrícola Félix Rocha. This estate began to be productive in the mid‑19th century at the initiative of Mr. Félix Rocha, the grandfather of the current owners. Around 1925, vines were planted on an area of about 220 hectares distributed across several estates in the Alenquer area. From 1927, Quinta da Ribeira produced about 1,750 liters of wine from traditional Portuguese grape varieties: Tinta Miúda, Camarate, Castelão, and Preto Martinho for reds, and Fernão Pires, Arinto, Rabo de Ovelha, and Vital for whites. The fourth generation of the Félix Rocha family recognized the need for investment to improve production quality and, since 1991, has invested in the complete restructuring of the vineyards and winery. Currently it cultivates 60 hectares of vines spread across Quinta da Ribeira, Casal do Mato, and São Cristóvão. (Illustrative image only)
