Referenced since 1751, Ferreira has long been a synonym for high‑quality Portuguese wine. The brand’s story intertwines with the evolution of the Demarcated Douro Region, set in 1756, and its Port and dry wines. Years later, the family business was led by Antónia Adelaide, widow of António Bernardo II. Renowned for her exceptional energy and rare commercial talent, she gave a major boost to viticulture in the Douro and pioneered a notable social‑assistance program in the area. After her passing, the company became a limited partnership and entered a new expansion phase while preserving its core values. Those values have carried Ferreira into the present, playing a key role in creating wines such as the legendary Barca Velha of the 1950s. Since 1987, under Sogrape Vinhos’ management, it has led the national Port market and showcased prestigious labels such as Quinta da Leda. The bottling year may not match the image shown.
