Established since 1751, Ferreira has long been a synonym for high‑quality Portuguese wine. Its story runs in parallel with the evolution of the Demarcated Douro Region, defined in 1756, and its Port and still wines. Years later the family business came under the stewardship of Antónia Adelaide, widow of António Bernardo II, whose exceptional energy and rare commercial acumen revitalised Douro viticulture and fostered a noted social‑assistance initiative. After her passing, the company became a limited partnership, launching a new expansion phase while preserving its core values. These principles have carried Ferreira to the present, underpinning classics such as the legendary Barca Velha of the 1950s. Since 1987, Sogrape Vinhos has managed the firm, leading the national Port market and presenting prestigious labels like Quinta da Leda. The bottling year may not match the image shown.
