This Marzemino, born from the very soul of Refrontolo, feels like it’s just woken up after a long slumber – a very good slumber, mind you. The three-month drying of the grapes on racks is a genuine nod to the terroir and the grape itself, expertly concentrating the fruit. Fermented with skin contact, following a tradition that amplifies aromatic complexity, it’s expected to deliver notes of honey and dried fruits – particularly figs and dried cherries characteristic of the region. A perfect match for aged sheep’s cheese, or perhaps, a decadent chocolate soufflé.
