This Fita Preta, from the Chão dos Eremitas, is a genuinely intriguing Alentejo wine. The nose immediately impresses with a surprising intensity – dark berry bitterness mingling with a hint of pomegranate and a whisper of graphite, as if a magician had painted the bottle. The attack is remarkably tight and demands respect, promising an elegant and tense structure that sets it apart. A Wine Spectator 90-point winner, it’s particularly lovely with grilled beef – the vibrant acidity really sings alongside rich, savoury meats.
