The bottles of old wines may show traces of dust and damaged labels, in line with their age. Garrafeira Nacional is committed to storing all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, but it always chooses to preserve the visual appearance inherent to their age. We select brands/regions that, normally, reveal distinct characteristics in tastings of vintage wines. However, we note that wine is a living organism exposed to time, and even within a bottle its aromas are subject to different evolutions. Thus, Garrafeira Nacional cannot be held responsible for the product’s quality, as it is an old wine. Our recommendation is to open the bottle and let the wine aerate beforehand, which will help release its natural aromas after many years of closure. If you decide to decant the wine before serving, make sure you do so patiently to detect the appearance of sediment, which a typical old wine tends to develop. (illustrative image)
