According to its age, wines may show marks left by time, such as dust residues on the bottles and/or some label damage, common in wines that have been stored for decades. Garrafeira Nacional is obliged to store all wines at the correct temperature and humidity but always opts to preserve the visual appearance inherent to their age. We generally select brands/regions that normally perform well in old‑wine tastings. However, wine is a living organism that, like others, is exposed to time, and even inside a bottle its aromas evolve differently. Therefore, Garrafeira Nacional cannot be held responsible for the quality of the wine, given that it is an old wine. Our recommendation is to open and let the bottle air out beforehand, as this will help release the natural aromas after so many years closed.
