According to its age, wines may show marks left by time—such as dust on the bottles or minor label damage—common in vintages that have spent decades in storage. The National Cellar stores all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, but it keeps the visual cues that reflect their age. We normally select brands/regions that perform well in old‑wine tastings. Nevertheless, wine is a living organism exposed to time, and even sealed in a bottle, its aromas evolve. Therefore the National Cellar cannot be held responsible for the wine’s quality, as it is an aged wine. Our advice is to open the bottle and let it breathe beforehand; this will help release the wine’s natural aromas after so many years closed. Avoid decanting, which can be too aggressive for old wines. (Illustrative image only)
