Depending on its age, the wines may show marks left by time, such as dust residues on the bottles and/or some label damage – common in wines that have been stored for decades. The National Cellar is committed to storing all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, but it always preserves the visual appearance that comes with their age. We usually select brands/regions that typically perform well in old‑wine tastings. However, wine is a living organism that, like others, is exposed to time, and even inside a bottle, aromas evolve in different ways. Therefore the National Cellar cannot be held responsible for the wine’s quality, as it is an aged wine. Our recommendation is to open and let the bottle breathe first, which will help release the wine’s natural aromas after so many years closed. Avoid decanting – it can be too aggressive for old wines.
