This “Costureiro” from Foz Tua is a delightful little gem from the Douro, bursting with a wonderfully wild, forest-floor character – blackberries and mocha dancing with a hint of coffee. Those tannins, impressively firm like the Douro’s schist, thankfully soften with a lingering finish that begs for a little more time. A well-deserved 18.5 points at Grandes Escolhas – seriously impressive! – it’s perfect with game or grilled fish.
