This Fraga do Abade Reserva is a wonderfully smooth introduction to Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca. Expect a remarkable elegance on the palate, with incredibly soft tannins – almost a gentle apology for the wine’s robust structure. Notes of ripe red berries, particularly black cherry preserves, are beautifully balanced with a classic hazelnut nuance, a hallmark of the Douro Valley, and, of course, validated by its gold medal at the Reconhecimento de Vinhos de Portugal. Definitely a wine to share with a hearty roast – don’t be shy!
