Frei João is a classic red wine from the Bairrada DOC, produced by the historic São João caves. The blend is mainly Baga—the region’s emblematic grape—along with small amounts of Touriga Nacional and, occasionally, other varieties such as Tinta Roriz, Syrah, or Merlot, depending on the vintage. The wine is traditionally vinified with full maceration in lagares and aged in a combination of French oak barrels and cement vats, preserving the house’s legacy of crafting age-worthy wines.
