Depending on its age, the wines may show marks left by time, such as dust residues on the bottles and/or some label damage, common in wines that have been stored for decades. Garrafeira Nacional is obliged to store all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, yet always chooses to preserve the visual appearance inherent to their age. We generally select brands/regions that usually perform well in vintage wine tastings. However, wine is a living organism, exposed to time, and even within a bottle its aromas evolve in different ways. Therefore, Garrafeira Nacional cannot be held responsible for the wine’s quality, as it is an aged wine. Our recommendation is to open and let the bottle breathe beforehand, which will help release the natural aromas after so many years closed. Avoid decanting; it may be too aggressive for aged wines.
