According to its age, the wines may show marks left by time, such as dust specks on the bottles and/or some label damage—common in wines that have been stored for decades. The National Cellar takes care to store all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, but always chooses to preserve the visual appearance inherent to their age. We usually select the brands/regions that typically perform well in old wine tastings. However, wine is a living organism that, like others, is exposed to time, and even within a bottle its aromas can evolve in different ways. Therefore, the National Cellar cannot be held responsible for the quality of the wine, given that it is an aged wine. Our recommendation is to open and let the bottle breathe first, as this will help release the wine’s natural aromas after so many years closed. Avoid decanting, as this could be too aggressive for old wines. (Illustrative image)
