Wine of great depth and richness, both in aromas and taste. A mineral touch with a persistent, long, fresh, and forward finish that shows a strong structure and a subtle balsamic note on the palate. Thomas Reynolds, an English sailor and merchant, arrived in Portugal in 1820, drawn by the wine trade, and had two sons, Thomas and Robert. From Porto he supplied his trading warehouse in London with Iberian products. In 1838 they entered the cork industry in Spain, expanded into Portugal, and eventually settled in Estremoz. After the family moved to New Zealand, Robert stayed in Estremoz to run the business, which grew quickly through the acquisition of new lands and the production of quality wines—a pursuit he carried out with particular dedication and passion. Alentejo became the definitive home of the Portuguese Reynolds and of Robert, the family patriarch. From that home came Robert’s eldest son, Robert Rafael, and from him, Carlos. Carlos had a first daughter named Gloria, Gloria Reynolds. In her honor—and that of all his ancestors who lived in Alentejo—Julian, Gloria’s son, produces a quality wine named after his mother: Gloria Reynolds. (Illustrative image only)
