Depending on its age, wines may exhibit signs left by time, such as dust residue on the bottles and/or label damage—common in wines that have been stored for decades. The National Cellar is committed to storing all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, but always chooses to preserve the visual appearance inherent to their age. Generally, we select brands/regions that typically perform well in vintage wine tastings. However, wine is a living organism that, like others, is exposed to time, and even within a bottle its aromas evolve in different ways. Therefore, the National Cellar cannot be held responsible for the wine’s quality, as it is an aged wine. Our recommendation is to open and let the bottle air out beforehand, which will help release the wine’s natural aromas after so many years closed. Avoid decanting, as it may be too aggressive for aged wines. (Illustrative image only)
