This Viognier from Herdade da Maroteira isn’t just a wine; it’s a little showstopper. The nose bursts with vibrant citrus, almost daringly so, underpinned by a hint of spice – a clever use of Bâtonnage, I must admit, giving it a remarkably luxurious texture. On the palate, the intensity persists, balanced by a refreshing acidity that doesn’t let the rich, butterscotch finish overwhelm it. Wonderful with roasted rabbit or white meat, perhaps while contemplating something a bit more thoughtful.
